In the world-branded watch field, the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) is the industry's most important awards ceremony. However, the Petite Aiguille is one of the most exciting and accessible categories, which is open to watches at a retail price. The GPHG Jury has chosen a shortlist of 21 replica watches, from brands both large and small. The rose gold Longines Record is a good example. It's a funny choice: a very typical design, COSC-rated movement, and an amazing gold case. And while it's up against some strong competition, it's nice to see this Longines, which stands for something of a return to the brand's classical roots, get recognition at the best level. The Longines replica doubled down with the release of the Record collection last year. Illustrating just how serious they are making completely handsome and highly accurate watches, with price tags that won't break the bank. As a result, it was their first-ever COSC-certified collection that combined many dial options and colors, with four different sizes of stainless-steel cases. I have to say that while the collection remained steady in the Longines wheelhouse, there was just that little something missing to completely draw me in. The important thing about the Record collection is that every version is powered by a chronometer-certified automatic movement, with this version using the Caliber L888.4. Particularly manufactured for the replica Longines by ETA, the COSC-certified movement uses a silicon balance spring and maintains a power reserve of 64 hours. The case is sized at 38.5mm and made of 18k rose gold with a see-through caseback and a water resistance rating of 30 meters. While the sunray blue dial is kept simple and clean, with golden bar indexes marking the hours, and a date window at 3 o'clock. To strap the golden fake Longines Record to the wrist is a dial-matching blue alligator leather band. To be honest, the case is well sized and should suit other different wrist sizes It's easy to draw comparisons between their similar cozy feeling on the wrist if you wear the fake watch for many years. However, there's gold in the hills when you strap on this new version. After all, this is a solid piece of 18k rose gold. It's not too heavy though, and it wears as elegantly as it looks when combined with the grand blue of the sunray dial.
